Beyond Happily Ever After:
A Memoir of Falling Back Up, Six Months at a Time

Parachuting into my wedding and landing on a sheep wasn’t bravado, or just bad aim. With only six months to live, you stop waiting and worry a lot less about long-term consequences. As the extensions piled up, I treated each 180 days as a new mini-life and made them count. The cosmic joke came forty years later, when a delighted doctor told me the original diagnosis had been a mistake, and I had to figure out what to do now that I was stuck being alive.
Writing is where everything I do comes together: the ceremonies, the training rooms, the relationships, and the close calls.
