Beyond the Book

My work has been published in print, performed on stage, and shared online. It tends to sit at the intersection of dark humour, emotional intelligence, and an interest in how people behave when things don’t go to plan.

Print

My first novel, One Hand Clapping, was published by Viking Penguin UK and shortlisted for a major literary award. My print work often explores identity, power, and human behaviour, with a strong narrative voice and a taste for the unexpected. It was subsequently required reading for two university English literature courses in the UK, along with Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis.

Een Hand Klappen, published by Uitgeverij Arbeiderspers (Netherlands).

i in the Sky – Visions of the Information Future, chapter in anthology by Alison Scammell published by ASLIB UK. Notable contributors included Dr Kevin Warwick (Professor of Cybernetics at Reading University) and Lise Leroux.

Beyond Happily Ever After is designed to live beyond the page.

  • Over time, companion material will include optional exercises, additional case stories that didn’t fit in the book, companion material and resources for readers who want to apply the ideas in practice. This may include free and paid offerings, short courses, and a membership space for couples interested in ongoing reflection and design.
  • Will also be space for additional case histories and anecdotes which didn’t fit in the book.
  • Membership site (free and paid), plus newsletter.
  • These elements are intended to extend the life of the book — not replace it — and to support readers who want depth at their own pace.
  • More to come.

Beyond Happily Ever After is not intended as a one-time conversation. It sits within a wider body of work exploring how people make choices, sustain connection, and navigate long stretches of ordinary life without waiting for crisis to force clarity.

Alongside the book, Leroux is developing companion material that extends these ideas in practical, accessible ways — including additional reflections, exercises, conversations, and examples that didn’t fit on the page, but continue the same line of inquiry.

[SECOND PARAGRAPH — FUTURE-FACING, LOW-PRESSURE]

Some of this work will take shape through writing, talks, and facilitated spaces for couples and individuals who want to apply the ideas over time. These offerings are designed to deepen engagement, not replace the book — and to remain optional rather than prescriptive.

More details will be shared as the book moves closer to publication.
